Happy Friday, friends! I’m so excited for Memorial Day Weekend! Steve and I have plans to order pizza and watch the Harry Potter Movie Marathon Weekend tonight, and then we will be visiting my grandparents on Saturday and Sunday. It will be an action-packed weekend for sure.
Before this weekend gets started, I’d like to take a moment to recap this week. This is something that I hope to do each Friday moving forward. I’ll recap my training runs (for Dopey Challenge training purposes), any exciting recipes we tried, any favorites I had for the week, and I’ll mention something that I’m excited to do within the next week.
Let’s get started!
I actually managed to work out everyday this week!
- Friday: 5 miles on the treadmill at the gym
- Saturday: 3 miles around the neighborhood
- Sunday: 30 minutes on the elliptical at the hotel gym and several arm exercises
- Monday: 2 miles with Steve around the neighborhood
- Tuesday: 3.3 miles on the treadmill at the gym and some arm exercises
- Wednesday: 3 miles around the neighborhood
- Thursday: 3 miles on the treadmill at the gym and some arm exercises
I plan to run 5 miles on the treadmill at the gym today, two with Steve tomorrow, and then take a rest day on Sunday.
Let’s first start with my favorite experiences for the week.
Last weekend, Steve’s family took us to a Pittsburgh Pirates game. Pittsburgh holds a special place in our hearts because we both attended college there. Here are some photos from the game!
Another one of my most favorite experiences from the week happened on a whim. After my run last night, I went straight up to our spare bedroom to stretch out my legs and do some arm exercises. Usually when I do this, Thad comes in and tries to get me to play with him (jumps up on me, play bites, gives me his ball, etc.), but yesterday was different. He came in, sat right next to me, and cuddled up to me while I was stretching. It was the sweetest thing!
He loves that all-natural bone, but it sure does smell pretty awful!
Next, I want to talk about my favorite reading material for the week.
Two weeks ago, I finally started reading Harry Potter. Yes, I think I’m the only Millennial left on the planet who has never read the books! I’ve seen the movies many times, but I never took on the challenge of reading all seven books. I’m already on Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and I’m obsessed. Why did I wait so long?!
This one is easy for me. Steve and I made zucchini pizza bites two nights this week, and they were simply amazing. We loosely followed recipes we saw online, and the bites turned out great.

Anything Exciting Happening Next Week?
I already covered this one at the beginning of the post, but I am very excited to spend some time with my grandparents. Both sets live roughly two hours away, so I don’t get to see them as often as I’d like.
I’m also VERY excited to indulge in some delicious pizza (I’ll be sure to take pictures :)) and to watch Harry Potter (since I’m reading the books) with Steve tonight.
It’s sure to be a fantastic holiday weekend.
